With the end of the term approaching the lads were treated to a game of Footgolf at Burnage Rugby Club. It was an opportunity for the lads to try their hand (foot in this case) at a new sport. The squad was broken down into groups of four and the challenge was set to see who would become Edukick Manchesters Footgolf Champion. With a ball at the players feet, they had to get the ball in the hole with the least shots over 18 holes. The pressure was on at the 1st tee with all eyes on the first group taking their first shots. Over the 18 holes their were plenty of wayward shots from a few players, myself included who had to lose my shoes and socks to enter the water at one hole to retrieve my ball. The lads thoroughly enjoyed the trip with laughter coming from all four groups and a big well done to Naldo who won the competition, taking the least amount of shots to complete the course.Read more

Head Coach Nigel talks about this week’s guest speaker – Harry Price
‘Director and founder of UK Football Trials Harry Price visited the school this week to talk to the lads about the upcoming football trials in April which they will be attending.
Harry kindly gave up his time to visit the squad at IH Manchester to share his expertise and knowledge on what scouts look for within a football player. The 90 minute talk was full of information regarding the 10 key areas scouts evaluate each player on during the 3 hour trial which is held at Woodley Sports Village. It was interesting to see as head coach how engaged the players were and how relevant the work we do on the training field is helping the lads with their preparation.
The lads were able to put questions to Harry about the process of being offered a trial within a professional / semi-professional club, who reiterated the importance of hard work, commitment and attitude were some of the key attributes a player must show to help secure a trial with a club.
The squad benefitted greatly from the advice given by Harry and as the players coach I will be looking at those who are prepared to transfer this information onto the playing field, looking to give themselves an advantage over the other players.’
Edukick Manchester visited the world class facilities of Manchester City for their Premier league fixture against Hull City on Saturday 8th April. The sky was clear blue as the lads in red enjoyed the atmosphere and million pounds worth of ability on show on the pitch.
The squad got to see the playing ability of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure amongst others cruise to a 3-1 win and witnessed City dominate the possession and score some fantastic team goals. It was also an opportunity for the lads to observe the passing styles and the simplicity but effectiveness of the city team.
A great day had by all, the lads will visit Old Trafford next on Monday 24th April to watch the U23’s of Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur.Read more
On Friday 31st March the Edukick Manchester squad were visited by Geoff Lomax, Regional Coach with the PFA (Professional Football Association).
Geoff kindly gave up a couple of hours of his time to visit the lads and speak to them about what the PFA do and his role within the company. Geoff also advised the lads on what it takes to become a qualified coach working at grassroots level all the way to coaching within a Premier league club.
The information shared by Geoff was very beneficial to the lads who were engaged throughout and provided some very interesting questions for Geoff to answer.
Many of the lads now are looking to gain their Level 1 Coaching Award by attending a course held locally.
Geoff who has played the game at a Professional level also offered some great advice to the lads going into the UK Football Trials.
I would like to thank Geoff for sharing his experience and knowledge with the lads and providing the opportunity for the lads to develop their own understanding of the game.Read more
Edukick are delighted to announce that on Wednesday 24th May 2017 they will take on Sporting Futures USA at Ewood Park, the home of former Premier League Champions Blackburn Rovers.
In another ‘once in a lifetime experience’ for our Edukick players, the team will travel to Ewood Park to take to the hallowed turf of the stadium in an exhibition match with Sporting Futures USA. The team will get to play out a full fixture in the 31,000 all seater stadium, using all the facilities that the first team use on match days and where all the top English teams have played.
Blackburn Rovers FC are the most successful town team ever, having been founder members of the football league, founder members of the Premier league and famously winning the premier league in the 1994/95 season, clinching the title by 1 point from Manchester United.
The Edukick team will take up home for just a few hours in the Stadium, following in the footsteps of some of the Blackburn Rovers stars such as Alan Shearer & Chris Sutton. Having that experience of stadium football is a fantastic opportunity, sampling the world class facilities and walking out the tunnel to the vast stadium.
The opportunity arose as Blackburn Rovers Community trust invited Edukick to play at Ewood Park as part of their end of season activities. It’s an opportunity that thousands of young players and colleges across the UK would love to have, however with the fantastic link Edukick have developed over the years with professional clubs and in particular Blackburn Rovers, its credit to the level and standard of the academy set up at Edukick we are offered such a chance.
All the Edukick players will have that chance to feel like a professional footballer for the day. What a great way to end a fantastic season in Manchester
The game will kick off at 12.30pm on Wednesday 24th May at Ewood Park. Lots of footage of the fixture and pictures will be taken to celebrate the day and for the players to remember the day by.
