IH Manchester v Manchester College
On Thursday 27th July IH Manchester lined up for their first fixture playing against Manchester College. With only 8 training sessions as a group this was going to be a challenging but fantastic experience for the players, some of whom were playing football in England for the first time.
The pre-game instructions to the players was to go out and enjoy the game and the experience as much as possible and look to play the ball quickly and positively IH Manchester
had lots of early possession and were looking to build from the back, playing through the thirds creating some half chances at the opposite end. Manchester college had some impressive individuals and experience of playing together and this showed as they scored 2 goals minutes apart. The squad remained up beat and continued to pass the ball with confidence, shifting the ball across the pitch well. A third and fourth goal were conceded before half time before IH Manchester managed to pull a goal back, raising the confidence levels at the break.
In the 2nd half the players continued to play there passing game and remain disciplined despite the score line and further tested the opposition goal keeper. Through a neat passage of play we managed to score a second with some quick passing around the box and a tidy finish from the striker. The team continued to defend as a unit and worked hard to keep a clean sheet in the second half, final result 4-2.
A very impressive first game for the squad who should take great credit for their individual and collective performances. As head coach it was a pleasure to watch and rewarding to see such a good group of hard working individuals enjoying the game and developing as a group in one performance.
We continue to work hard in training and look forward to our second fixture next week.
