Edukick Manchester 6 V 6 Hopwood Hall
A 12 goal thriller took place this week in a home game for the EduKick side who came from behind three times to secure a draw against Hopwood hall.
The game kicked off at a pace with Hopwood taking the first advantage going ahead early in the game, but the EduKick lads dug in and got the game back level before going behind once again. Just before the break EduKick drew level to take it into half time at 2-2.
With some changes and fresh legs at half time it looked like the EduKick lads could go on to win the game easily, however were put on the back foot when the Hopwood side took advantage of some mix ups at the back and took the game quickly to 5-2 with three very quick second half goals. From there on it was a hard fought battle, Hopwood went down to 10 men after an off the ball incident and EduKick stepped up a gear with Dzanan, Matt and Ismail getting on the score sheet to bring it to 5-5. Just as it looked like there was time to get the winner, the EduKick back 4 were caught out as they tried to
push on for the winner and Hopwood stuck in a 6th, But the EduKick lads were not giving up and after a serious claim for a goal that was pulled back from over the line by the goalkeeper, Matt stepped up to strike a free kick that the keeper couldn’t hold and Zakir slotted home the rebound, taking it to 6-6.
In the game there were great flashes of play from the EduKick boys, with many more chances going astray. Whilst it was great to see the fighting spirit and the goals going in, this should have been a victory for the team, but lots and lots of positives to take from the game and build on.
